Nothing wrong with you, and I agree completely.

    Amen.
Life's too short, and there's too much good whiskey within reach.

There was an old Gaelic quote I read in Playboy about 45 years ago. I cannot reproduce the original language, but the translation was, "There's whiskey, and there's good whiskey, but there's no bad whiskey."

There's another one somewhere to the effect that good whisky makes good company.

This thread made me question my judgement and pull out my bottle of Cabin Still. I had been enjoying EW Black, so my palate was not dominated by a big whisky. Poured a glass of Cabin Still and yep, as I remembered..........no taste whatsoever!

It's Heaven Hill right? Surely the bottom of the barrel product?

Drinking what you like? It's hard to see what's wrong with you for that.

But variety is the spice of life, no?

There's nothing wrong with liking Cabin Still. When I tried it for the first time, I noticed a flavor like butterscotch life saver candy that jumped out at me. That was a number of years ago. I still detected that taste in later bottlings, but way in the background.

I'm drinking my lower shelf, high rye blend tonight of 4RYL and OGD BIB. Costs $14 a fifth and tastes an awful lot like ETL, which is twice the price.

    It pays to experiment.

Is that a 50/50 vatting? Or should I just experiment?
Love ETL. At half the price I love it twice as much. Plus, I can get 4RYL & OGD locally. No ETL around here.

If God made anything better than bourbon he must have kept it for Hisself.
