Self-Styled Whisky Connoisseur
There's another one somewhere to the effect that good whisky makes good company.
This thread made me question my judgement and pull out my bottle of Cabin Still. I had been enjoying EW Black, so my palate was not dominated by a big whisky. Poured a glass of Cabin Still and yep, as I remembered..........no taste whatsoever!
It's Heaven Hill right? Surely the bottom of the barrel product?
There's nothing wrong with liking Cabin Still. When I tried it for the first time, I noticed a flavor like butterscotch life saver candy that jumped out at me. That was a number of years ago. I still detected that taste in later bottlings, but way in the background.
Nothing wrong, too take a lower shelf at times.
I'm drinking my lower shelf, high rye blend tonight of 4RYL and OGD BIB. Costs $14 a fifth and tastes an awful lot like ETL, which is twice the price.
It pays to experiment.

If God made anything better than bourbon he must have kept it for Hisself.
