Only a few more days left on the BOTM - I vote "Yes" on cracking the 25yr ;-)

Do it! I opened up one of these the other week. I've had a pour or two and intend to get my thoughts in the FWotM thread before the end of the month, but so far I'm underwhelmed. Tasted against a recent 18yo, the 18yo is better on just about all counts: richer with more sherry influence as well as spicier and more peppery. The 25yo is sadly much less expressive.

    Aaron-

Was your 25yr cask strength or the standard 45.8% ABV?

CS @ 57.8%. It's my understanding that they bottled the 25yo at CS for the first few years (starting in '02 or '03?) and then switched it to their standard 45.8% in '10 or '11.

Nah, some off label Costco was selling over the summer. Still mighty tasty.

Yeah, well I revisited these last night and they took me about 180° away from my statement above. The '04 25yo Talisker really came alive for me last night, showing a heck of a lot of development from the sweeter and slightly less interesting 18yo. It just popped for me - lit me up. Likely a combination of the right amount of water and standard palate variation. I'm glad, too, because I brought home two of these the other week, at '04 prices!

What Wee Dram Are You Enjoying Now - Spring 2013 ...

I'm drinking all the scotch in Scotland. It's cheaper to buy a regular dram here than beer or coffee, less than $5 with the conversion to dollars. Some highlights from last night were Laddie Golder Still, Glenfarclas 30, Rosebank 21, Littlemill 19...

Oddly enough the bottle prices are kinda high.

Ishts been cray the last few days. So many amazing drams I would never find in the States. I'm only halfway through my trip, and these taste that much better because of the places I enjoy them and those I've enjoyed them with:

    Bowmore 30 year Sea Dragon
    Glenfarclas 105 20 year
    Highland Park "The Dragon" 1961
    Highland Park John Scott's 1967
    Port Charlotte PC5
    Greer's O.V.H - an amazing blend from 1920's
Port Ellen 9th Release (just ok)

First pour of my first bottle of Caol Ila 12. So drinkable. So tasty. This will not last long. The dram or the bottle.
