Whoa, 9 is out? I have still been looking for 6! My bottle of 3 is still sealed, I need to find a special occasion to open that. Guess I need to start looking for a bottle of 9 to order, there is no way my local stores would have that at a decent price, if at all!.

It's interesting that they are using more casks for that release, weren't the previous releases only like 9 or 10 total casks? Guess they are going for bigger batches? This would be somewhat odd since Tun 1401 itself, the actual mixing tun, has a fixed capacity (2000 liters?) and it sounded like previous batches maxed it out.

Ex-sherry butts are more "traditional" yet they call ex-bourbon barrels "traditional whisky casks"

There's a little bit of me in every bottle of Batch 9! I had some alone time with the Tun when I was in Warehouse 24 last month.

Seriously though, it's a great one based on my tasting. I'm in for a bottle at least. Since they used fewer sherry (600 L) vs traditional casks (200 L) than in past releases, it stands to reason that they would need more casks to fill the tun for this release.

Which Water of Life Did You Purchase Today - Spring/Summer/Fall 2013

I'm hoping those fewer Sherry casks were syrupy, sticky-sweet, full-bodied, thick PX butts :-)

    (cue Sir Mix-a-Lot)

Edit: I'm just glad TUN9 didn't come out at the rumored $750

So I signed up for Liquor Barn's newsletter and got a 5% off coupon. Hmmmm, I think. Back to the store for these:

    and

Funny thing was another Tun Batch 9 was placed in the cabinet to replace the one I bought about an hour earlier.

I have only found a few scotches that I like, one of them being Talisker. I was in Europe this summer and planned to buy the Distiller's Edition at Duty Free, but then my last airport where I could get it didn't have it. Found it a bunch of places around here for $85-90 but couldn't pull the trigger. Found it this week on sale for $59. Excited to try it.

The Tweeddale Blend batch #3, 12yo. Two for myself, 3 for a friend.
a well crafted blend that is as good or better than many single malts of similar age.
