Re: Which Water of Life Did You Purchase Today - Spring/Summer/Fall 2013

I managed to find some Old Pulteney 12 for $25 so made my way home with two bottles. The Highland Park 12 at $38 was calling me too but I already had a decent stockpile of bourbon and rye in the cart, so I had to pass. Fortunately, I've got several HP12 and HP18's bunkered away from a few years back which should hold me nicely when I crack them open this winter.

I can never get enough of the Aberlour 16 which is one of my regular pours when the weather turns cool.

That's a great price for a quality malt.

Sale around here made it $47. I couldn't pass it up. I might have to get another bottle to bunker before the sale is over.

That's a great price compared to the $70+ I'm used to seeing. Bunker away!

Re: Which Water of Life Did You Purchase Today - Spring/Summer/Fall 2013

Was outside my normal hunting area and stopped by a little mom and pop liquor store I'd never been to. I found an older looking Glenlivet 18 that definitely had some dust accumulating on it. The box and bottle were not the same as what I normally see - and it was marked $79 so I had to go for it.

Not sure it qualifies as a dusty since research found that Glenlivet just changed their bottles and packaging in 2011. (Of course, this one looks like it might have been there longer than that.) But since the same bottle is normally $99 around here, I still feel like I got a deal.

And I wasn't disappointed in the whisky either. Wonderfully balanced, fruity, with a great creamy smoothness.

I'm moving to MN. I don't know how many posts I've read lately of their excellent prices....now to convince the southern gal I married

You guys are going crazy with the Lagavulin. I'm jealous, I hope to stumble on one of those older bottles some day.
