    Picked up an Ardbeg Uigeadail.

Next on the list is Glenlivet Nadurra. Any particular batches to seek out, any to avoid?

Re: Which Water of Life Did You Purchase Today - Spring/Summer/Fall 2013

Given the recent angst over fall limited releases from 4R, BTAC, VW, etc., I've decided to settle for a consolation prize:

Lagavulin 21 / 2007 - while there may not be any unicorn piss in it, this bottle was cheaper than paying B*X* prices for PVW20

Thats a pretty bottle CW, never tried that old of a Lag. Does the peat soften up like it does with the older Taliskers?

Re: Which Water of Life Did You Purchase Today - Spring/Summer/Fall 2013

Bought a bottle of the Great King St. blended whisky from Compass Box. This is my 3rd bottle and while the first two were great, this one--bought just recently and bought quite while after the first two--is not nearly as good. The first two were soft and sweet and crisp, but these one tastes... well, alot more like a blend. It's not bad by any means, just not as good as the first two. I wonder if anyone else has tasted a similar drop, or if I got a stray mediocre bottle.

In general, peat wanes over time so I would guess this is true for this bottle (which I haven't opened nor tasted yet). My point is there's some great whiskies out there without having to deal with the hassle and shark feeding frenzy that is the annual fall releases from Sazerac et. al.

wow that's a pretty bottle. I like your thinking and I agree with your sentiment. it's actually a great time of year to find that kind of stuff when everyone else is searching for and saving up for the annual releases leaving other treasures on the shelf. I remember last year I was in a shop that had a PVW15 at like 3x msrp and right next to it a Lag12 DE 15% below msrp.

Re: Which Water of Life Did You Purchase Today - Spring 2013 ...

Saw a Longrow NAS (Springbank's peaty cousin) on the shelf yesterday. Don't think I have seen Longrow much in this area, if at all. Is it worth giving a try?
