Will do. It might accompany me to the Sampler if it lasts that long.

Picked up a Talisker Distillers Editions for $60. There aren't many scotches that I'd buy, even though I do like sampling at my buddy's house. I reserve my liquor money for bourbon. But a good price on any Talisker will force my hand.

Yep. That's a great price for a savory treat.

I've always shied away from the Talisker DEs in favor of the 10. I can get a couple different DEs for about $10 more than the 10. Worth it?

Aberlour 16, Glenmorangie 18 and Balvenie Doublewood 17. I popped the Balvenie tonight. Superb...especially if you like Balvenie.

If you like the 10, I think you'll love the DE. The only one I've had is the 2001 (which is current, I believe, bottled 2012) but I really think the finish works beautifully with the Talisker profile.

Hhmmm, let's see Pappy overrated bourbon, or one of the greatest Single Malts ever produced (so I hear, I haven't had it)? That's a no brainer decision and I have a couple of very rare bourbons I may cut loose to try and get one (or two) of those Lag 21s myself.

As for what I purchased recently, a similar Lagavulin and a Brora.

+1 - some of the bottlings from the early- mid- 2000's were also a bit older than the Talisker 10, maybe 12 or 14 years IFRC. Only had one of these but can't remember as it was years ago, but it was nice to get the finished whisky and at an age that you wouldn't find in an OB.
