Four Roses Single Barrel Bottle Fill Level

I'm curious to see what others think. When I look at a full unopened bottle of bourbon (or anything else) I expect to see the top of the contents at least part of the way up the bottle neck. That seems to be the norm. If I see the fill level down by the shoulder of the bottle, it makes me think there was some evaporation due to the top not being well sealed, or the bottle was not filled all the way when it was bottled. Anyway, I've noticed that all the Four Roses Single Barrel bottles I see don't look completely full. My local grocery store has has it on sale, and I bought one. After it's empty I'm going to fill it with 750ml of water and see where the level is. By the way, the bottles of the 80 proof yellow label all look completely full.

If you do a Google image search for Four Roses Single Barrel, the stock photos and other shots show a fill to the shoulder. I've consumed many bottles of FR1B and I don't recall any that were filled to the neck.

It is just how that bottle is made.

I recollect the same thing. I think it's just the design of the bottle. It does look a bit weird though, I agree.

agree with above, its the bottle shape that makes the fill look low. High shoulders and short neck.

I haven't noticed FR1B bottles to have trouble with the contents until after they're opened.

Four Roses Single Barrel Bottle Fill Level

Just purchased from the FR GS. Both have the shoulder fill. It is a little weird though. The AAA is filled up behind the label. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1374093679.655184.jpg

I blame it on the gnomes, when in doubt blame the gnomes.
