    How Bourbon Got It's Name

I've linked a good article from the Smithsonian below on how (potentially) bourbon got it's name. The one thing I really dig is Micheal Veach's recomendations at the end. No PVW, no BTAC, no super limited exclusive releases...just great everyday pours.

Despite having a superb bourbon historian resource at his disposal it seems the author still manages to mess up the Jack Daniels story in the usual manner. I guess even the Smithsonian isn't immune from journalistic license!

Sweet! When I become president I'm gonna have a shot of old grand dad for breakfast. Or is that HOW you become president?

    Mike has done excellent work.

I take the view the name came from Bourbon County, KY, but we will never know for sure.

I'm voting for New Orleans, it's just too good a story.

That's a good article. I asked Bill Samuels to tell me the story of how bourbon got its name before and he tells something similar. Barrels marked bourbon being sent down the Ohio River and Spanish horses being used to bring the people transporting the whiskey back to Kentucky - - which led to the start of Kentucky thoroughbred horses.

Uh, I suspect it might have something to do with attempting to drink away that whole authorizing the death of millions thing.
