Re: Appears the Maker's shortage is real...

We just want to see what we want when we want the way we want at the price we want and I don't think that's too much to ask.

I would expect that Walmart, Costco, etc has broken the three tier system in some states

Doubtful. It'd be possible to verify that by obtaining a list of distributors for each state, but that sounds too tedious to me.

Doesn't mean that Walmart et al don't get special treatment from the distributors in some states though.

I expect customers who order by the pallet rather than the case do get their phone calls returned quicker.

They get special treatment in KY. Chain pricing vs tier level deals. I sometimes have to buy hundreds of cases of a single product or brand to get the best price. The Kroger wine & spirits and rite aid down the road buy one case and get the best price.

When it comes to wine, most of our new additions come from smaller esoteric wine only distributors. They only require 5 or 10 cases and we can mix and match among the entire portfolio, not just one producer.

I just checked Florida's MM inventory and there are no 1.75s in inventory. That being said we had no problem keeping them in stock over the holidays (from Thanksgiving to last week)--

I can still find MM in my area with no problem. An odd side note here. I was at my local Sam's Club recently. They had a bunch of MM 46, and 1.75's of MM, but no 750's of MM.

    Cheers! Joe

Re: Appears the Maker's shortage is real...

I've been noticing a lot of Maker's Mark commercials on prime time shows.

If they were truly selling out of the stuff, to the point where they couldn't meet demand, why would the expense of making/airing commercials be necessary? I mean, if you already sell 100% of your juice... it's kinda hard to sell 120%.

I know, I know... growing the brand, finding new customers to refresh their base, etc... the timing just seems odd, since I can't remember the last time I saw MM commercials.

After the new deal closes do the execs get a bonus based on last quarter sales?
