Re: What bourbon are you drinking? Summer 2013

As per previous posting, I'm having some Elmer T. Lee with a cube. This is a Julio's Liquors selection, and it's very, very good.

Re: What bourbon are you drinking? Summer 2013

finished off the EW BIB tonight.

i keep changing my mind on all the BIB's i try. i am back to indifferent on this one, was kind of glad to empty it and clear a new spot out......just like the VOB BIB i tried last. i keep wanting to try new stuff, but even the BIB's are starting to seem a little 'bleh'.....

if my two current favorites are #1, OGD 114, and #2, KC 120..........what do you guys recommend i try next? im thinking maybe i like high proof-high ryes?

oddly, a few tastes of OGD BIB and i decided id never buy that again.....

    where to go now?

Just poured a heavy dose of ETL out of respect for Mr. Lee.

Maybe go with a FR 1B standard edition. High rye mashbill and 100 proof. Or spend about $15 more And grab a barrel strength private selection. That will get your proof # up there for about $50.

Had a pour of the SB Blend last night. It was tasty, but I wish I had some ETL on hand.

i have a bottle of that on the shelf. in my opinion, it's one of the most regretted $30 purchases i've made. and it was the high-rye formulation too.

Not too much of late as it has been really hot, too hot to drink bourbon for me. So a splash of OWA Antique after dinner the other night, just to remind myself how good it is & while out to dinner with the wife at a nice restaurant, a Gentleman Jack Ginger Julep, while not bourbon it was rather refreshing, although a little fussy.

Sorry to hear. YMMV as they say. Just leaves more for the rest of us

After looking at a bit of the responses on this, have you tried actual ryes? Rittenhouse BiB might hit the spot...

I felt the same way about 4RSmB when I first had it. I though it was very astringent and almost like drinking perfume. I went back to it a few months later and did a total 180. Very good stuff. I don't know if it was air time or me, but something changed.
I've never tried GTS with any sort of soda. Maybe I'm missing out; but I'm OK with that.
