Re: What bourbon are you drinking? Summer 2013

One of the coldest evenings this summer down the shore ... warming up with a bit of Old Forester.

Been sick the past three days. Since I am starting to feel much better, I am celebrating with a pour of WTR101. This is doing wonders for my sinuses

Decided to stay on the 4R train after the 40th, with a pour from the 120 yr bottling. Very nice, and in a blind tasting I'm sure I would nothave pegged it as 4R whiskey. Shows, I think, what great range and flexibility this distillery has. Really good stuff.

Then, reached into the fridge for a pour of HH 6yr BIB. Dare I say it was the winner of the evening? Not fancy, challenging, or uber-complex. No, it's not "remarkable", except..except for how remarkably full, luscious, thick, chewy, and entirely enjoyable this 12 dollar whiskey drinks.

And to think, we used to consider Cabin Still to be just ordinary stuff, of course that was back in the days when gasoline was .30 cents a gallon.

I'll tell ya you're killing me with the FR's selections, might as well throw an '09 Marriage in there for the hat trick!I'll just have to stick to my skunky old LE's for the rest of the evening.

I wish I could travel back in time to when this pour was ordinary, it is positively an incredible pour

As I know you know, ain't nothin' skunky about any 4R LE. The new are every bit as good as the old. 4R just don't miss.

Just when I thought I was finished for the night curiosity made me have another pour. I found a bottle of Old Fitz 1849 today that I suspected was a SW bottling, so what was I to do but try it and a newer bottling to confirm. The "older" bottle is typical SW profile where the new bottle doesn't come close to it
