Yesterday we had 20 people over a Labor Day barbecue. Before everyone arrived, right when I lit the charcoal on the grills, the skies opened up as a thunderstorm travelled through the region. The coals started, the rain stopped, friends arrived, and great quantities of food, beer and cider were consumed.
After everything was done, including a ten-hour crock-pot brisket for later in the week, the heat and humidity were still crazy just after midnight, so I closed out the summer with Russell's Reserve Small Batch Single Barrel onto rocks. This was the end of the bottle, and I'll miss how well it suited me poured onto rocks through the hot days of summer. Not sure if I'll pick up another just yet; must see if Rare Breed has the same magic.
