You seemed a bit more enthusiastic in your original post! Maybe it was the rabbit pate talking...

So what differentiates the barley and the corn mashbills to make it neutral grain spirit (vodka) instead of an odd blend of malt and corn whiskies? Distillation proof?

The notion of it as a possible cocktail ingredient had occurred to me given the fact that Ransom Old Tom gin has long been a favorite in a Martinez and other drinks.
That yella whiskey runnin' down my throat like honey dew vine water and I took another slash…

LB was being generous - he wasn't counting the Liter Tax per bottle. It works out on average to about 25% per 750ml bottle total (for the two taxes combined).

That rate is actually about the same as before the state got out of the retail liquor business.

Not sure where that tax revenue goes actually.

Passed on James E. Pepper 15yo Rye today for $139.00. I did pick up a few bottles of Jefferson 21yo.

    Looking forward to drinking it.

I would pass right on by that and pick up a case of Barton instead.

Saw a couple Baby Saz's on the shelf, something I haven't seen around here in a while but space on my shelf is a premium right now so I decided against them.

Wouldn't doubt it, she was carting some baggage in addition to that Weller bottle for sure.
