Re: Do SBers Stock Up on Value Bourbons?

1792, WT (I don't mind the 81 even though I prefer the 101), VOB, and FC are easy for me to find, so I let the liquor store carry the inventory. If there were shortages, I might react by stocking up.

Re: Do SBers Stock Up on Value Bourbons?

Starting to think i should be.

I assumed being new to bourbon that they can always make more (as in, i wouldn't stock up on Pepsi...it'll be on the shelf somewhere when i need it next), but realizing supply and demand being forecast 5-20 yrs in the future is inexact to put it nicely i think it's time to buy some shelving, buy what i like in bulk (save a bit of $ in the process).

OK, OK... if you have the pinky completely extended and properly elevated, and are facing KY, then I guess they'd be special enough pours to be considered 'classy'. .....IMHO

Bunkered the value pours that I like and that I think may go away: Ritt BIB, AAA 10 yr, Old Charter 10 yr, Old Ezra 7/101, OGD 114, and the BIB's just cause I like them: VOB, HH-6 and EW

For what they cost putting some away for a rainy day can't hurt.

A five year supply isn't stocking it's a sensible precaution.

I know, right? Most prices are pretty on level (whatever that means) here, but you can get FRY for ~ 33% less for some unholy wonderful reason.

Exactly. If these trends continue, they constitute good (if not definite) reasons to stock up.

Re: Do SBers Stock Up on Value Bourbons?

im not one for stocking up. i do have a stockpile of KC120 though. not because i thought it was going away or changing, or anything. it was because the store i frequent decided to stop carrying it as its a slow mover in this end of town, and put their whole stock of it at half price. i love this stuff and know ill never again see a $40 bottle priced at $18, so i bought every single one they had, even the few bottles in the back. it'll last me a few years i imagine.

most other stuff i buy ( i rarely go over $20 bottles ), i know there will be plenty on the shelf whenever i go back, so i choose to let them carry the stock, not me. If i keep a case in my cellar, it may get broken, stolen, who knows what.....so why bother loading up on something thats always available.

i'd stockpile it if: its something i love and its on a great sale, its something i love and its going out of production, or prohibition is coming back. thats it. i wont stock something i dont love even if its going away. that would be stupid.

is HH white 6 year really going away? I like it, but dont love it. of so, i may put a few bottles in the cellar. but really, i kind of prefer the EW BIB NAS anyway........but the difference is so slight, id probbly buy whatever is cheaper anyway.

WOW - that is awesome. When they are basically BOGO, you can't pass that up if it is something you like!

If I see something that I like for a very good price I will stock up a bit, because the prices are only going up.
