So, I had a couple more pours of this exclusively the following night and it was decent as well! So, I will say that it has either improved with it being opened now for a couple months or I have gotten accustomed to the taste or it simply is a bourbon that does not do well among others (I have found this to be true with a few others, to my palate of course).

I don't know if I would be buying more of this at $42 but I will definitely say that I can actually enjoy BMH and can understand others who enjoy this.
How long did you let it breathe, on the rocks or straight. I'd like to give it one more chance but honestly so far its been terrible. Maybe Ill do as you did and have it after a couple of glasses of wine.

I drank mine neat. Didn't really let it breathe much after it went from bottle to glass. How long has yours been opened?

Opened it a couple of nights ago and had a glass, neat at first then added some ice.

Ill try it again this evening.

I had the same experience, didn't care for it much when first opened but liked it increasingly with subsequent air and pours.

Good point Squire. I will try that in the near future, and post my findings.

So I'm giving it a second chance....

    BMH NAS neat
Its certainly better after being opened a few days and letting it breathe.

Its better but still not a $50+ bottle. Ill try and get motivated to do some tasting notes tomorrow. Its to late tonight.

I know everyone's palate is different. However, based on taste, the NAS component, and the NDP component, I have to say that I think Black Maple Hill is the most overrated and overpriced bourbon in the market. I paid $31.99 for my bottle and I don't think I would pay $14.99 for another one. It just isn't good.

Agreed, I have $9.99 bottles that are better than the $41.99 I paid for this but that being said I'm glad some like cause the folks at BMH gotta make a living too.

I see no reason why I should contribute to their welfare, they've never offered to pay any of my bills.
