GQ - The New Whiskey Rebellion

The May GQ has an article titled - The New Whiskey Rebellion ...

"Not all that long ago, appreciating whiskey meant boring your friends with peat profiles or sucking up to your father-in-law on the golf course. Now, thanks to a new generation of genius bartenders and rebel distillers, whiskey is the official drink of the people. Here, the best bottles to own, distilleries to know, cocktails to make, and ten next-level bars where the only thing smarter than ordering whiskey is ordering another."

In the early 1960s GQ articles on Bourbon barely skimmed the surface and 50 years later that hasn't changed.

There is a lot of stiff competition this year for horrid attempts at bourbon writing: Parker, the Chef Boy, GQ, and over on the Premium Bourbon thread, a leading contender: "10 Most Expensive Bourbons to Try." Superficial treatment is one thing. Inexcusably ignorant is another.
If God made anything better than bourbon he must have kept it for Hisself.

Excellent point, FF. That's why I would like to propose a designated full forum for "Dumbshit things people who don't know shit about bourbon say, write, and broadcast just so they can hitch a ride on the bourbon train." Put it up top so every visitor can see it, and can view it as we totally and publicly humiliate their dumbshittedness here. These pukes are nothing but leaches trying to suck some credibility in the subject of our passion. Yes, they'll soon move on to another new and "hip" subject to suck on, but we should smack the slimy bastards around, before they leave.

Damn we finally fell off the GQ top ten whiskey bar list. Still got more juice than Longman and Drum bar combined... but we'll just keep it for ourselves then let the dbags drink all of Longmans stuff hahaha

Reading some of these articles makes me want too run amuck.
Peggy: Look Al, the rubes think I'm sexy!
Al: So would I if I had whiskey for breakfast.

Doesn't bother me but I don't take fiction seriously.
