As is occasionally pointed out top price doesn't always assure top shelf so some opinion shopping here first might be a good idea.

Very true. I loved the thread where folks picked their favorite bourbon in different price ranges. Some stood out which I hadn't given serious consideration to, and after trying, wondered why I had waited that long OGD 114 is a prime example - before SB.com, I'm pretty sure I never would have tried it.

It has, although Barton hasn't. I tried, but it just didn't stick. Although . . . I didn't like tomatoes for the first 25 years I tried them, so I'll revisit it later

Yo, from a fellow central VA resident. First off, stay out of my stores

Seriously though, welcome. I've shopped in several states, and I have found that VA actually has a decent selection of standard bottlings. For the limited edition stuff mail order is your best friend. BTAC can be gotten here, but it requires some upfront leg work (i.e. getting orders in as early as possible at stores that can actually get it).

Again welcome, and stay out of my stores

Agreed... It was just easier finding recommendations for those at first. Like I mentioned, trying some of the more moderately priced items has been just as much fun as I'm getting more familiar.

    Haha, thanks @ bourserker

Are you the guy buying up the EC Barrel Proof? I finally got my hands on a bottle and they told me they'd spoken to a guy who had gotten a handful of them. I agree though, VA has definitely increased the quality of their selections, I'm sure as the bourbon popularity has increased the past few years. I put my order for BTAC items a few months ago, they said they usually run out of ER17 first, then WEller, which I found interesting. Fingers crossed!

Naw...I didn't even know ECBP was available here till recently. A buddy got me a bottle, and that's good enough. I have way too much stuff to work my way through so I don't usually buy more than one bottle of anything. The one thing I do want to get that I haven't been able to yet the Abraham Bowman Millennium.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with the BTAC, but only certain stores get a decent quantity of it and GTS seems to be the easiest one to get. They don't carry THH, and I've never tried to get a Saz 18 yet.
