    Greetings from Brooklyn NY

Hello all, I'm new here and figured I should introduce myself.

I've been getting in to Bourbon (and Rye) in the last few years after drinking a lot of Manhattans, and then discovering the joy of drinking the good stuff on it's own outside of a cocktail. As much as my budget and small NYC apartment (and NYC prices) will allow, I've been slowly building my collection.

I also have the good fortune of being engaged to a lovely lady who hails from Lexington, KY, and managed to check out Woodford and Buffalo Trace while visiting the in-laws to be last week. I like this family!

In the last few month's I've been delving into Mr. Cowdery's writings (and newsletter) and realizing how little I really knew about the origin of many of the spirits on the market. The proliferation of NDPs, etc. is certainly eye-opening.

I'm looking forward to learning more from this forum.

    -Brendan

Welcome Brendan, The up side about NY is that you can probably find anything that is currently available. Chuck Cowdery had an article on his blog several months ago all about bottom to mid shelf bourbons. If you haven't seen the "Whiskey Tree" thread in the general bourbon discussion, it's really worth checking out too.

Hello Brendan, welcome aboard. Your in a good position to be informed about the brands and in a good location to find the bottles. Congratulations on the engagement, wish you both the best. You are gaining both a wife and a good reason to visit Bourbon Country.

Welcome to the tribe, Brendan, from a fellow New Yorker -- well, if 20 years here counts! Enjoy and come visit with us in Bardstown as time permits. Our next pilgrimage is during the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in September. --Cliff

Good Day Brendan and welcome from another of the Michigan guys.

You are lucky to have in-laws in KY, gives you plenty of reasons to visit that beautiful state.

    Best regards, Tony
