    Corazon Van Winkle Anejo tequila?

I received an email from Hi Times Wine in Costa Mesa, Ca recently introducing several new versions of Corazon tequila. They acquired barrels from Sazerac that had previous held Stagg, Van Winkle, Sazerac rye, and Buffalo Trace bourbons. The version aged in Sazerac rye seems different. I think the marketing is whats really crazy. It made me wonder, WWPT (what would pappy think)?

Given most tequila is already finished in bourbon or whiskey barrels anyway, some of which may well have been one or more of these products, I am not sure it is anything worth an additional mark up in price. At least as much of a gimmick as the Jefferson Ocean I should think. The Ocean was/is at least trying something a bit off the beaten path.

While Corazon is OK I haven't found it to be anything much out of the ordinary as a tequila anyway.
That yella whiskey runnin' down my throat like honey dew vine water and I took another slash…

Drink Spirits reviewed these back in May - link.

They liked the BT Reposado and the ORVW Anejo the best.

I would find it doubtful that these would be any better than any normal barrel aged Corazon tequilas. Marketing and mark up at its best.
