BT & HH: (for me, it's simply because among the big houses, they're the ones that most likely have aged ryes in the pipelines)
They both have diverse portfolios with stellar expressions. If Four Roses had a rye, that'd be a harder top 2 to pick.

Probably BT first for the variety available. Second choice would be tough between HH and Four Roses. I too like the option of wheaters and rye whiskey.
If it weren't limited to American distilleries then, as much as I like bourbon and rye, it would probably be Middleton. Gotta have me some Pure Pot Still whiskey!
That yella whiskey runnin' down my throat like honey dew vine water and I took another slash…

BT definitely for the variety and 4R for the quality.

Al: So would I if I had whiskey for breakfast.
Wow, after giving this alotta thought (well; for me alot), I decided on Heaven Hill.
But, I gotta tell ya' The Buffalo has some amazing brands I'd hate to leave behind. And, so does Four Roses.
On the other hand, since I have to stick with it for only a year, and I have a well-stocked bunker that has several WLW's and several GTS's and several ETL's, and a few of the finer of Four Roses efforts; but only one Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, I went this way.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
Probably FR and FR here.
You guys have been making some great points regarding the lack of rye with the FR option. I would have to imagine BT will be the place to go for rye, particularly of the more aged variety. With B-F making Rittenhouse for the last many years, who's to say there's much of any (if any at all) rye resting under HH's roofs. I like a lot of BT, but it gets boring rather quickly... So I don't know what would be worse: Going a whole year without rye or getting bored with the whiskey early in the year in the hopes that some Saz18 or VWFRR would show up at some point.
Then again, the rules state that you will get whiskey which was distilled at your distillery. Not sure how that applies to the apparent Frankenstein that is something like VWFRR, so maybe I'll just do A) FR and B) FR to make it simple!
Eh, nevermind, I think I'll have to go B) BT for reasons of rye and wheated bourbon. With the exception of PHC 4th, I haven't been too pleased with HH wheated bourbon. For the most part, BT's wheaters don't blow me away either, but they're capable enough.
