I have $100 burning a hole in my pocket...

Do I buy: Hirsch Selection 20 Year or Jefferson's Presidential Reserve 21 yr? I have tried the JPR and enjoyed it but want to spread my wings a bit. Both are available. Any other suggestions for my hard earned cash besides the Pappy's (which as you know is impossible to find)?

Don't buy either of those things.

Parkers or Four Roses Small Batch Limited Edition, or store selected single, barrel proof Four Roses.

Oh, and follow Jim's advice, don't buy either of those bottles of mystery whisky.

I would recommend spending that $100 on 5-6 bottles off the lower shelves. I did that when I first started out and don't regret it one bit.

Al: So would I if I had whiskey for breakfast.

If you're in VA and you're just dying to spend a lot on one bottle, maybe look for an Abraham Bowman from the summer release. I think it was 72.99 at the ABC.

Thanks for the tips. I have tried Four Roses and wasn't a big fan. That $100 can be split up on a couple bottles but I like the Abraham Bowman suggestion.

I think you will find many in this forum will point you toward multiple less expensive bottles to help expand your horizons a little more. What we don't know is what you have tried and liked. If you can provide a little more background on your experience with bourbon, you will get some pretty solid suggestions on how to best spend your $100.
