Buy a bottle of Old Grand Dad BIB and spend the rest on dinner with your lady.

Let's see: $100. OWA-$25; OGD 114-$22; ETL-$26; HH-BIB-$17, and you still have $10 left over, or spend another $8 and add a RITT BIB.

BDUTS, just my .02c worth on getting a lot of bourbon bang for your buck, and to find out what you like.

Bill, you just hit a Grand Slam with that rec!

Though, your EWBIB $ may be high. No matter. That's just gravy.

Amen! If starting now and armed with the knowledge herein, I'd suggest a nice variety of at least one of each rye forward, wheater and tweener. You can't beat the Weller brand (especially the 12 yo if you can locate it) for a smooth, cost effective introduction to wheaters. And as Squire noted, you can never go wrong with OGD BIB. There is a reason that some of these brands have been around a while, while many others will come and go. In your area, you should be able to acquire three or four great drinking bourbons for $100 and then choose which direction your journey will take you. Good luck!

Amen! I was starting to work out the numbers on scrap paper before I got to your post - excellent suggestion!

Although . . . we all know . . . if we walk into a store that has a FRSBLE, FRSmBLE, PHC, BTAC, etc - our plan immediately changes

These recommendations IMHO are solid. Assuming you are in NoVa, you have access to MoCo, MD and VA ABC. You can go a few routes with that C-note as I see it.

Option 1. You get two bottles; 1 - Abraham Bowman Last Millennium 100 prf & 1 - OWA 107 prf. Out the door with about $3.00 leftover for a cheap cigar

    Option 2. You get 3 bottles; 1 - ECBP Batch #1 at 134.2 prf; 1 - OWA 107 prf; 1 - OGD 114. Out the door with about $8.00 to spend on a cheap cigar and a $5.00 sandwich.

Option 3. You get 4 bottles: OWA 107; OGD 114; ETL 90 prf; Blanton Single Barrel 375ML; Not much left of the $100 but a nice selection to sip on.

    Happy decision making.

Humchan2k's "I have $100 to buy booze with" List:

    1. Buffalo Trace - $25, Humchan2k's #1 everyday bourbon
    2. OWA - $25, welcome to wheated bourbon
    3. Rittenhouse - $25, welcome to Rye!
    4. OGD BiB - $20, welcome to high rye bourbon!
    5. Buy a $5 cigar.

    Touchdown.
