JW Green. I need to get more of this before it's all gone.

Finishing up the evening with a pour from a mini Amrut Fusion that I picked up recently. I think i may have tried this before, though not sure...but, no matter...this is spectacular whiskey, at this time. A lovely smoky chocolatey nose (reminds me of the burnt-corner-of-the-brownie pan OGD114, BTW), which slides into a viscous, rich, chewy, with a dose of peat blast over the palate. Nice, full, and lingering finish. This is a very special whiskey in my book. I'll quickly seek out a big bottle for my bar. One of the great whiskey finds for me this year.

Yamazaki 18 to start - mild smoke, sweetness, and big spice. Solid stuff.

Now a Redbreast 12 cask strength. Didn't care for this last weekend. I added some water this time and it's a bit more enjoyable.

Two great ones, to be sure. The Y12 and Y18 are regulars in my house and are thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Killed off the end of an Ardmore Traditional Cask last night. Very solid and very affordable too.

Many tastings last night. The highlight is the Arran 14 year CS from K&L. I love that one.

Re: What Wee Dram Are You Enjoying Now - Fall 2013/Winter 2014

After a little bourbon, I poured some Strathisla 12, a very under-appreciated $45 bottle if I may say so. It's no CS well-aged sherry bomb, but as sherried Highlanders go, it's outstanding in the QPR department.

Moved on to a Springbank 12yo finished in Calvados for 6 years. I love this one. The funkiest flavor of Springbank tamed with sweet molten calvados for half of its life. A great bottle, but a big jump in price from the 12yo Claret from 2012: $30. It's Springbank, so there's nowhere else to go, but still rough.

Then I hit Laphroaig with a 13yo CS 1B that is dying on its last pour or two and then the recent Cairdeas. I like the port on this, despite its sour cherries leaning. I don't know, Laphroaig usually hits me better than both of these bottles are tonight. Probably the Springbank influence.
