It actually reminded me most of St. George Single Malt, Batch 12 specifically, and had a similarity to HW16 in fruitiness, but without the spice notes. Definitely not as sweet or oily as bourbon though, IMO.

Thanks for the feedback. I really enjoy Nikka's products and can't wait to try that one.

Talisker 10 yr. Nothing better than the salty sweet taste on a cold night.

Same, I almost ordered one previously but did not know what to expect. Now I'm going to have to grab a bottle.

Oban 14 and Glenlivet 18 at Logan Airport. Oban was one of my first malt loves and the price shot up and it became very hard to find soon after I found it. I think things have settled down in terms of availability but $75 is a lot to ask for it. Still quite tasty, kind of similar to Talisker with less smoke and more honey. $11 for a well-poured glass.

The Glenlivet 18 was very different, with none of the sea salt honey, leaning much more on the sherried side of things. There was some funky sulphur notes, especially on the nose, but nothing too undone. Not bad for $12, but I preferred the Oban.

I need to find some Oban when I'm at the bar next time... Sea salt honey sounds scrumptuous.

I find the Oban 14 is a pretty mediocre dram, not bad, just not memorable. The 18 is a definite step up and would be my preference of the two. If you can wait a bit, the special release 21 will be out very soon. It is cask strength and not stupidly expensive, maybe worth checking out.

Aberfeldy 12 & Bruichladdich Rocks for me tonight. In between, a wee dram of Glenfiddich 12 from a gift sample pack shared with me wife.

As good as it gets IMHO. I've had the Green & Yellow Spot as well as the RB 12 CS. I'd take Power's over those any day. Awesome vanilla waffers and christmas cookie notes. It's just so....so....so....NOT Irish!
