Re: What Wee Dram Are You Enjoying Now - Fall 2013/Winter 2014

Trying some Cutty Sark Prohibition. So far I'm enjoying it, though I can't compare it to regular CS since I've never had it. This one has a smooth taste that almost seems to have a light effervescent characteristic, like there are a few bubbles. I get something in the taste that reminds me of Grants but with a little more power. You can tell the proof is a bit higher from the mouth feel though there is still very little heat. I may go back and get another bottle for bringing back to Seattle.

EDIT* I'm trying to be more descriptive here but my vocabulary for this sucks. There is a somewhat off note in the finish, an almost dry mouth feel like I get from a very tannic wine that appears about a min or so after finishing a sip. Otherwise it's an all around very pleasant experience, strong presense without being overpowering. Nothing too complex, just sweet and smooth.

    Well, that's encouraging.

Correct, apparently it just came out. It did not even have a price tag on the shelf yet.

Click on the blog link in my signature. Then factor in that I have about 150 unopened to review...and then about 80 scotches and 40 bourbons. I can justify it because it brings in tiny, tiny amounts of income...and miniscule amounts of internet acclaim in the internet community. I posted a picture of the tequila collection in February. I'm going to dig it up now...

It's from February (just the single bottles, not the extra bunkered ones), but I had a new cabinet built for the bar area. I'm running out of room again as I've added probably 80 bottles of tequila since that photo. Salud!

I am going to go out on a limb here and surmise that you like Tequila?

You say that now. I think we've all said similar things, only to have that get washed away some days, months, years later....

good notes on Prohibition. Some might describe the effevescence as "nervous" or "fizzy." I find this quality in the better highland malts, especially the old-style ones. Really excited to hear that Prohibition has that. I've been looking for this one since i first saw it reviewed.

This might be more appropriate for the Rye thread, but who cares...
