Re: What Wee Dram Are You Enjoying Now - Fall 2013/Winter 2014

I started out the day with some Glenlivet Nadurra followed by some Gold Top from Elevator Brewing Company and some Hakushu Bourbon barrel to end the evening.

Enjoying the last of my bottle of Compass Box Flaming Heart 2012. I'll be sad to kill this one. As much as it provides a satisfying peat kick, it also has some surprisingly gentle fruity notes that erupt out with a drop or two of water. I DO know of a couple places with multiple bottles @ $69, but I have a bottle of the 2010 bunkered, so I'm undecided as to whether or not I should replace the 2012. So much whisky, so little time . . .

At least one or two of them would be coming home with me at that price. There's still plenty near me but they're $90. I have a couple put away, so I'm letting them stay on the shelf at $90.

Enjoying a nice basic Caol Ila 12. This is hotter and peatier than I remember, with some nice chocolate/malt flavor toward the end of the palate. Good oily mouthfeel. Finish turns jammy.

I'm sure said SBer would be happy to send a sample!

Enjoying a nip of Yamazaki 18. A perfect amount of sherry cast influence in the dram. Very balanced. This one is in the "wish I bought more when it was $95/bottle a year ago" camp...

You and me both! I would even pay the $110 that I payed for my current bottle. An excellent whisky. Now it is what? $150? $175?

    Sheesh!
That yella whiskey runnin' down my throat like honey dew vine water and I took another slash…

I'm kind of in love with the 12 year, so I need to get a hold of the 18 year too. Every Japanese whisky I've had has been good thus far. I still recall 2-3 years ago when the 18 year could be had for $80 at Hi Time. Now I wish I'd stocked up and I've never even had it.
