Re: What Bourbon did you pass up today? Fall '13

Passed on a PVW23 at "retail." Couldn't stomach paying $280 out the door for a bottle when I could get the PVW20 for 1/2 the price.

I doubt I could tell them apart in a blind tasting.

My issue is that I've never heard anyone say that they liked the 23 year more. If I have heard it once or twice, I've heard 10x as many people say they like the 20 year more.

Are they age stated (15 years)?

Although they reportedly were once apon a time now they are a mystery whiskey. Actually, according to the website they are a blend of mystery whiskies.

Jefferson's Reserve: The first bourbon released by Jefferson's, the Reserve is a complex, yet balanced combination of 3 different bourbons, including whiskey aged up to 20 years in American Oak. The result is a medium-weight bourbon with a dry, robust palate that fills with the mouth with flavors of roasted corn, caramel, toffee and oak.
That yella whiskey runnin' down my throat like honey dew vine water and I took another slash…

Four new NDP's that I can't even recall the names now. Pretty packaging, all 86 proof, $45 - $55, and onw even said on the front, "Distilled in Indiana". Should have taken a pic.

I have seen a private barrel selection in ATL that the liquor store stated was 15 years (on shelf sticker) but not on the bottle itself. Or at least I didn't see it on the bottle.

Passed on 4R 125th LESmB for $129.99. It was a bit hard walking out on it...considering a return visit.
