I'll gladly dispose of the old, stale, woody ones for ya!

Threw an empty bottle of High West Double Rye in the bin last night. I really enjoyed this pour.

VWFRR "C" bottling from 2012. It has opened up maybe more than any bourbon/rye I have tried. Tight, closed, astringent popped and poured. But now after a few days and a few pours I get what all the fuss is about. Warm creamy palate with some wood notes but also layers of other flavors. And a lingering sugary finish. Shout out to MOKD.

Pretty much my experience with it. That's why I was surprised that you didn't seem to like it as well as the others. Saz18 on the other hand was very dry and peppery the last time I had some and is what made me think that I didn't care for aged rye.

I really enjoy the finish on this one. My bottle is a D from this year.
I've never tried GTS with any sort of soda. Maybe I'm missing out; but I'm OK with that.

Yep. I did give the caveat that I had just opened it and the others had been opened a bit. Saz18 is much more dry and peppery as you noted. But I actually like that as a changup from the sweet wheaters. The VWFRR has now turned into what I expected. A great balance between the oak bomb of the Hirsch and the dry pepper of the Saz. It has both characteristics but now has more flavors and character than the others individually. Rating today it moves to the top w the Saz second.

fRYEday here saw pours of WTR101, Ritt BIB, & Baby Saz. The Saz struck me as a higher rye content than usual. I was picking up the stronger rye flavors that I typically get in the LDI ryes.

Some HW 16 while watching the colts game. Not a great start for the ponies but we will see how the rest of the game goes. Go Colts!!
