Very Special Old Fitz 12 - soon to be dusty?

I keep seeing mentions of this but had not seen a thread or other "real" confirmation...

rumor has it that this is going away. Any truth to the rumors? There's a pinch on any aged stocks, and this one has never been big or really too beloved by the bourbon world so I'm not surprised to see it go. I've got a bottle I like that I probably wouldn't replace, but a bummer if true because another age stated wheater will go the way of the dinosaur.

That is the rumor going around central Ky at the moment. I plan to pick up a few more bottles just in case. I like the stuff, and think it is an equal to W12. Shame for it to disappear.

I too, think it's a nice dram. Unique enough that I almost always have at least one on hand.
If true, (probably, given recent history) I'll be sorry to see yet another traditionally well-aged brand go the way of the dodo.
Especially one of the few aged wheaters out there. At leat that was commonly available and decently priced.

They've got an investment in those rebate tags, after all.

I would imagine that aged stock will be used in the gift shop and for limited releases with a much higher rate of return.

VSOF12 is not a good value relative to W12 and has traditionally been harder to find in most markets. I'm not crying over this one.

I bought a bottle of this recently thanks to an unlikely special delivery to the VA ABC. I like it, and it's nice to see something different pop up every once in awhile. But at $40 I'm not sure how often I would pick it up when OFBIB is $39 for a handle around here.
