Evil Twin bourbon barrel imperial biscotti break. Still too much cocoa/coffee/milk chocolate for me. The bourbon influence is minimal.

I did down an 8 wired (New Zealand) Bumaye earlier. A 16% abv imperial stout aged for 18 months in Pinot noir barrels. Slightly funky and impressive. A nice change of pace compared to the onslaught of American style RISs'.

Ohh yeah and a sample of Against the Grains Atilla the Hen. Basically an imperial version of KY Ryed Chiquen. This one is all fowl, none of that chiquen shit. 12+%abv rye ale aged in rye whiskey barrels. We have it on tap and it hasn't even hit the brewpub yet.

First bottle of Pepe Nero (Goose Island) - dark like a stout, thin head, body on the medium-light side which was a bit surprising. Malty and maybe a dark cherry note on the finish which was nice, but also a sour note in the background that I couldn't figure out - not lambic in any way, but had me wondering whether the bottle was spoiled a bit or this was intentionally part of the style?

Eighteen different sample pours of barrel-aged stouts, barleywines, porters, Scotch ales, pale ales and sours -- none of which I'd ever had before. The Festival of Barrel-Aged Beer (FOBAB) is like Christmas in November!

They must have pegged me for a Jew then, as I was shut out when the tickets sold out in what seemed like less than 1 minute. Ironic, because Hannukah IS in November this year. I really enjoyed it last year... You'll have to give me pointers on how to nab tickets for next year!

Yesterday started at noon with college football. The progression was Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, then Founders Harvest Ale, then Avery IPA, then finished with a Terrapin Hopsecutioner.

Hopslam, I do not buy that you have to drink it right away. Still very tasty.

Bear Republic Café Racer 15 and it's very good. Lots of citrus, mild floral notes and not too sweet for an imperial.
