Interesting. I knew that Niebaum/Coppola used to be Inglenook. But wasn't aware he had renamed it back to Inglenook.

Grahams Six Grapes Port, I could start every night off with this. I have to finish it with Bourbon however.

last night had a bottle of Cain Five 2006--excellent
one of my favorites and my wife's all time favorite
it's a Bordeaux blend from way up on Spring Mtn in Napa and quite the harrowing drive--I've done it several times. don't know if going up or coming down (after tasting) is worse. probably down as you're driving on the cliff side. probably even worse for the passenger (wife).

they've taken us out into the vineyards a couple of times

the Cain Five grapes come from the Spring Mtn vineyards; they also do a blend from benchland grapes called Cain Concept
we were invited to a tasting comparing them (3 different years of each) in 2012

I classed it up last night and had some Duca boxed red wine. Pretty damn tasty for $12.88 for 3L.

Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora Do Carmo Port. It is an OK reserve port wine but not one I would cellar for long.

Yes. Coppola bought back the Inglenook name fairly recently.

Splurged a bit this weekend with a 2008 Hansel Russian River Pinot and a 2003 Dunn Cab Howell Mountain - the Hansel was terrific but is still quite primary; won't open the next one for a few years. The Dunn was very good but the '03 vintage doesn't seem to be one built for aging - if you have 'em, I'd drink 'em. I was a bit surprised given how big Dunn usually makes his wines, but the raw materials didn't have it this year.

Charles Smith Chateau Smith 2012 Washington cab. Drinking well for such a new vintage.

Had some 2011 Orin Swift Abstract last night. Not bad, but a little hot for me alcohol-wise at 15.7%.

Re: What Wine Are You Drinking? - Winter 2013/2014

Bought a bottle of 2002 Opus 1 for V-day to impress the wife. Cracked that sucker and...mustiness. Damn thing was corked. I'm 2/2 for spending a lot of money on a nice vintage and it being corked (the other was a 1981 Chateau Margaux). Fool me twice...

After the Cain 5 post above, I think that'll be my next purchase. Any notes/comments on the Cuvee? Seems like a reasonable price.
