Hello from North Dallas (aka Plano)

Quick introduction, I'm a novice that has been transitioning from cocktails to enjoying bourbon/rye straight. I've been in a try everything mode for the last year to get a better idea of what I like. This has resulted in some surprise success (ogd 114) and some disappointments (four roses single barrel)

My current staples are weller 12, ogd 114, and balcones brimstone. Mostly lurking and learning.

    Welcome to the board, Ishad!
Glad to have you join the conversation. You're doing it correctly, especially if it helps you find which of the many many offerings you like best. You may eventually decide that you like woodier, or maybe sweeter, or maybe spicier, or maybe mellower brands. Or maybe you'll discover that on different days you like different profiles (as I seem to do).
In any case you're journey having begun... Have a great ride. Remember; the journey is the destination.

Ishad, welcome from Fort Worth. Lots of nice folks on here with plenty of knowledge! I really enjoy the Weller 12 and OGD 114 too!

Welcome. You are going about it the right way. Just try things to figure out what you like. I recommend buying a few different minis when you go to the liquor store, along with a regular bottle of course. Have fun with it.

I'm just down the road in Richardson. I'm glad we get enough Weller 12 around these parts to not have to compete!

Wish we got ANY in Michigan! Gotta have it make SB Blend, after all.

I really can't compute not having Weller 12... I go through more of that than anything else.

Didn't say I had NONE; only that it isn't sold in MI. I still have about 1.5 bottles, bought in KY last year. I am getting low and will have to stretch it 'til I can re-supply on the way down (or back) to the Spring Sampler in Bardstown. Really looking forward to that Gazebo visit and all the wonderful pours, and great friends.
