I believe Pappy Van Winkle admonished us to always add whiskey to our water in the old print ads... making something plain better, or something like that.
Life's too short, and there's too much good whiskey within reach.

I always do it that way knowing full well it makes no difference. Just like the idea.

A joke, eh? Ralfy seemed sincere about it. I wish I could remember in which review he went over the idea, but I just don't know.

Ralfy is known to keep things lighthearted, but he's tasted a lot of whiskey and has a lot of knowledge. If you haven't watched many of his reviews, I recommend you do. They're pretty dang entertaining.

Ive seen many of 'em. I still find it entertaining for a very-grown man to publicly go by 'ralfy' though

I'm sincere about it as well, standards must be maintained, but the whisky into water and not t'other way 'round line has been with us for at least 200 years. Dr. Samuel Johnson wrote about it being a Scottish phrase when he visited the Outer Hebrides in 1773.

I'll take his opinion over someone with an avatar of a bikini clad blonde with fake appendages ... ;-)

ps I don't think he's as old as you think.
