    BRRRBON By Widmer Bros

Me and the guys at work split up 2 cases of the Widmer Brothers Alchemy Project today.
    Barrel Aged Brrrbon 2011 & 2012.
The blurb on the label of these 22oz bottles says,...
..."This smooth, chilly Winter warmer goes through a secondary fermentation as it ages in Kentucky bourbon barrels.
After months of maturation in the barrels the brew is allowed a tertiary fermentation for final conditioning before release."

    Well then, pass the pretzels!

    Re: BRRRBON By Widmer Bros

Oscar, have you tried these yet? I visited friends in Portland, OR, several weeks ago and we had dinner at the Widmer Brothers gastropub. I did a flight of tasters during dinner, including the Ginger Brrrbon '13 on tap; the spiciness of the ginger took center stage, with the bourbon barrel influence relegated to the background. Pretty interesting, and actually pretty good in a taster size (4 oz.), but I'm thinking that the ginger might get to be too much in a full serving and might just wreck my tastebuds after a while. Afterwards, I went next door to their company store/gift shop, and was able to pick up single bottles of Brrrbon '11, Brrrbon '12, Brrrbon '13, and Ginger Brrrbon '13. They were all out of Vanilla Brrrbon '13, so I'm probably going to hold off until I can get a Vanilla Brrrbon '13 before I do a grand tasting of all of these with a group of friends.

If you have any tasting notes, I'd love to hear them!

We got the 2013 in last week and I got a bottle of it.
Last night I finally got into the 2011.
Very nutty, a dry hickory nut flavor that grew on me, I liked it.
    I'll try the others later.

Thanks for the tasting notes on the 2011. That does sound interesting, and I'm looking forward to tasting the various vintages that I picked up.
