    New to Straightbourbon.com

Hey, everyone. My name is Clay Risen, and I'm happy to be joining the Straight Bourbon community. I'm a journalist by trade; I just wrote a piece for Fortune about the state of the American whiskey business. I work by day at the op-ed page of the New York Times; I hope no one here will hold that against me.

I'm not a lurker, and I'd never quote anyone on the site. My participation is 100 percent off the record. Honestly, I just like talking about whiskey, and sometimes I write about it. All that said, if you ever have a suggestion for an article or a criticism of something I've written, by all means let me know.

    Cheers,

    Clay

Welcome, Clay. I like your pieces. Have read more than a few of them over the years. And, this is a great place to learn about bourbon. Best way to write is sitting among them.

    Hello Clay.
I just read your article a few minutes before seeing your post!

Thanks, folks! I've been a reader of this site long before I joined. Not sure why I didn't earlier, except that I felt I was learning so much just by reading, and that I wouldn't have much to add. Here's hoping I can contribute something to the conversation.

Welcome Clay! Glad to have you! If you're ever around Bardstown for the Sampler or Festival, there's got to be an article hiding in that
