    Suggestions on Mellow Corn enjoyment

I recently grabbed a bottle of Mellow Corn. I have never had it but have read some glowing reviews here. For those that have enjoyed it, how do you like to serve it? Neat, splash of water, rocks, in a cocktail?

I think glowing reviews is a bit of hyperbole, but it's tasty for $15 or less.

I generally like it cold, either the whole bottle chilled or with a large ice cube in a 2 oz pour.

The whiskey has a very nice corn flavor and aroma, like frosted corn flakes and baking cornbread.

It's wonderful in a Bloody Mary, as the oily corn provides nice texture and body that balances all of the spice and acidity of the BM mix. Much superior to vodka, IMO. Drop a couple of pieces of cooked bacon in there (don't pat off the grease! ), and you got a meal.

Re: Suggestions on Mellow Corn enjoyment

We've had some success substituting it in some bourbon cocktails (at home, not professionally, as we aren't professional mixers although we do talk bartenders into making special stuff for us sometimes). Last night, we had a "White Whiskey Punch" per a recipe from the August 2011 'Saveur' magazine (Issue 141 in an article called "Whiskey Rebellion") (edit - which mixed white whiskey with pineapple and lime). Last week, I posted a link to that article on the cocktails thread, and the article's recipe list contains a bourbon-cider recipe from Jennifer Pittman of Proof on Main in Louisville that we like with either bourbon or a white whiskey like Mellow Corn. The corn whiskey taste with the cider makes for a great hint of candy apple.

I prefer to keep things simple.....pour it in a glass and drink it. That way I can't screw it up

Generally speaking I use it as a mixer.

It's just dandy by itself! Which reminds me, I need to pick up a few more bottles while the getting is good.

It's great in an Old Fashioned but my favorite treatment is on the rocks with a few healthy doses of bitters.
