Don't have to work tomorrow so it's a nice pour of BT over ice tonight.

Started with a pour of 4R 125th while working on bikes down in the bike shop this afternoon. Just a ridiculous whiskey, there's nothing like it.
Now having some SAOS 7 yr before dinner. At 99 proof this one is just right and supremely drinkable. I know it's MGP product, but man do the guys at SA know how to pick the barrels. It tickles all the right spots on my taste buds. Thankfully I have 2 in the bunker because I'm making short work of this one.

It's one of those everything tasting great kind of nights. First, last years 03' EWSB, a Binny's bottling that has been lingering for a year due to my unenthusiasm...what was I thinking . Next up a WT 101 mingled with the 03 Rare Breed...another winner. Ending with the 1st Stagg Jr. release. Brought the beaker out a few days ago and added enough water to the remaining 322 ml to bring her to 100 proof...best in show tonight.

And I am a card carrying skeptic on air time and opened bottles (until true oxidation) but gotta say that when it comes to bringing high proof down to a lower proof...big fan of the water mingling for a few days in the bottle.

Having a small pour of Parker's Heritage Promise Of Hope as a night cap. 10 minutes of air time really brings out the brown sugar, sugar cane, and light spice notes. So far, I have enjoyed this bourbon.

Of the OFs, the VOF was the most assertive and unanimous favorite (I think). The '58 OT was spectacular - 4 year age statement and really rich and full of heady corn. The bottle of 17yo OBSV was murdered by the group, which does not come as a surprise to me as it is very possibly my favorite bourbon ever.

    That's beyond epic!

What were the age of the OF's?
    VOF8, VXOF10, VVOF12 or something different?

    Cheers

Yup, those were the ages. The VOF was a 375ml (200ml?) and the other two were full size.

Picked up a couple of simple bottles (yet out of stock for over a year in my neck of the woods) while on vacation in LA...

OWA and EC12... enjoyed both tonight while watching Game of Thrones. Good times.

A/Bing a Woodford Reserve 2012 vs 2014. Very interesting - the 2012 has more notes that resemble the malt whiskey distiller's select in it. My friend and I both preferred the 2014, but I certainly enjoy the range of having both. I had been confused about how much hate was around for WR, and I suspected product inconsistency, because the stuff we tried on a tour in March was pretty decent. Anyway, I can see how people would feel less excited about the 2012 had that been their only experience.

Then it was on to OFBB 2012.

Also drank some more of a Toddy's FRSB OESV. Always a pleasure.

A few of us also had some Wiser's Legacy CDN rye

Enjoyed a gorgeous day out on the deck yesterday afternoon. 4RSmB followed by CEHT SB. Very enjoyable. And I won 2 out of 3 games of cribbage.

I had a little Dixie Dew and ER10/101 last night while watching basketball. For those of you who haven't had Dixie Dew or Mellow Corn, I'd strongly suggest giving them a try if you can find them in your area. I honestly love them both, for what they are. And you can't beat the price on them too. Great value pours!
