Well, may be, but that wouldn't explain Old Forester Birthday Bourbon.

    Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel.

I've commented somewhat negatively about this bottling in the past. However, as I'm about to finish this bottle, I find the quirky taste (nutmeg, etc.) intriguing -- an interesting contrast to what I consider the mainstream flavors. Forgive me Mr. Lee, but it's the kind of drink I might keep toward the back of the shelf for the occasional change of pace, next to the s----h. I'll probably buy another bottle, but not right away.

    Yours truly,
    Dave Morefield

2nd glass and last bit of my Michter's US1. I really enjoyed the whole bottle. When the rest of the crew was over the other night Cliff wasn't too impressed with it and Bob, after some time, said it was ok but he would pass on buying a bottle probably. I really don't know how Chris felt about it. Everyone was shocked by the nose as I remember though. Just shows to each is own...

My first experience with Eagle Rare Single Barrel tonight -- I think I have a new candidate for my favorites' list. The nose is really subtle -- it takes a long time in the glass to give up much -- and the palate hides at first sip, but explodes about mid-palate and blossoms into a long, rich, satisfying finish. My first impression was this is a bourbon which adopts the best parts of single-malt Scotch -- the floral sweetness of a Speyside, and a touch of smokiness -- and combines it with the flavor of Kentucky corn and white oak caramel and vanilla. A very good, complete whiskey, especially for the price (under $30).

Rowan's Creek. I picked up this bottle when I was in Atlanta last spring and haven't touched it for a few months. But I'm glad I've gone back to it as I'm enjoying it quite a lot tonight. It has a dark color, and a rich, woody taste that has a hint of carmel. Definitely worth checking out if you like a stronger tasting bourbon.

Last night, I cracked open my bottle of ORVW 15 yr 107. Had to celebrate that my wife and I found out that we are going to have a boy (due date March 17....hmmm St Patrick's day and his dad likes whisky what a coincidence) I had bought this bottle prior to moving and man was it good. A strong yet sweet aroma and the taste was fantastic. An excellent choice for a celebratory drink.
