As the learning novice, I bought a bottle of Eagle Rare (10 year old) and simple Ancient Age today, and have had a sip of both. I can say that neither knocks my socks off. Some nice citrus in the AA but it seems kind of dry on the finish. I am learning that I seem to prefer higher proof bourbons.
You didnt miss much, Mark. Just looked like varying cycles of a quarter moon while I was watching. But DAMN it was cold out on that porch. 30 degrees by the thermometer out there. The single ice cube I had in my 3 fingers of RB never completely melted!Damn, I forgot all about that.
I swapped the 858 for a Ashton VSG Belicoso to save on some time (cuz I was cold!). Great cigar, but the burn left a lot to be desired. I dont think my lighter liked the sub-freezing temp either, because it didnt want to ignite properly.
I'm ready for spring

Tonight I popped the cork on a new bottle of Eagle Rare 17yo. This is fantastic bourbon and a value IMHO. One of my top 5 easily![]()
First, I finish my bottle of Weller 12 yo.Then, Virginia Tech blows their game with Pittsburg - with 5 min left to go in the game at Pitt with a 4 point lead, the VT coaching staff calls three sideline plays in a row, stopping the clock after each one. That cost us almost 1.5 min that we could have run off the clock. I told my son right then that those calls might have cost us the game. Pitt scored a touchdown at 47 sec left to take the lead. I don't mind geting beat, but I hate losing due to stupid decisions. As my Dad would say, Dangnabit!

a couple of nice pours of ORVW Reserve Rye...
No lunar eclipse out here in San Francisco, since it's been raining all evening. So I stayed in and had a healthy pour of Blanton's. A great solid bourbon that never lets me down.
Finally bought a bottle of Eagle Rare 10 year and enjoyed my pour. Very mellow bourbon, good for the relaxation I needed after partially finishing a grouting project in the kitchen.
Me and the Mrs. are spending the night in Atlantic City tonight and right now I am enjoying a very generous pour of Rare Breed while enjoying the view from the windows in the room. What a beautiful day we are having here today!
