Re: Anybody seen Macallan Cask Strength on the shelf?

There are quite a few batches of A'bundah that are amazing...and some that are just decent. Never had an amazing Mac CS or tasted a "raw flavor" note from it. I don't even know what that is.

Picked up my second bottle recently in Georgetown, SC and finally opened it. It packs a spicy punch and needs ice to make it drinkable but oh what a drink. Very similar to a barrel proof rye.

    A) From my research, your opinion is the more common one. Most people give the nod to the Aberlour, not The Mac
    B) I very much like both but have not seen The Mac on a shelf in almost a year. It is said to be long gone. I am shocked that some of you still see it on the shelves
    C) I would LOVE to find another bottle but in the meantime I concentrate on the Aberlour and the Glenfarclas 105
    D) I would love to find more Mac CS...oh, I already said that!

In closing, I would REALLY LOVE to find more Mac CS.

Anybody seen Macallan Cask Strength on the shelf?

I have heard that Macallan doesn't chill-filter their whiskies. Having had experience with the 12 I doubt that's true. Does anyone know whether the CS is chill- filtered or if caramel coloring is added?

Macallan absolutely chill filters and adds color to their whiskies. I recall reading somewhere that the CS is non-chill filtered, but I don't have a bottle of it handy to verify. No idea if they add the ol E150 caramel to it or not.

I saw these at a few Bevmo's here in Norther California for $80. I believe they ship to some states.

Quoted directly from the back of my bottle, first line: "This Macallan is bottled at original cask strength without chill filtration or the addition of water."

Found a small stash of these today. They're 60.1% ABV, my last bottle was 59.3%.

Does anyone know how to decipher the batch code printed on the inside of the bottle?

Have also seen A'Bunadh for $49.99 on the shelf recently. Batch 47 IIRC. Any thoughts on that particular batch?
