    Re: The Vatting Thread 2014

I did a 60:40 EC12 and ECBP earlier. I have it sitting bottled now.
I also did a Beam signature 12yr, KC SB, and Michters small batch sour mash whiskey mix.
I'm gonna do my 1st tasting of both here in a bit.

Mixed up my first batch of SB blend about a week ago. Letting it sit till this coming weekend. Looks good in a former Willett Rye bottle eh?

Made an attempt at a Blood Oath facsimile. 10 parts EC12, 4 parts ECBP, 4.5 parts EWSB and 5 parts Larceny. I have no idea how it actually matches up with Blood Oath since I've never had it, but I really like the first taste. Some caramel sweetness, a hit of spice, good mouth feel, nice lingering finish. Will let it meld a bit, but I'm optimistic.

I have a vat now of Evan Willians White Label bonded, regular JD and CC Green Label (the single grain rye from Alberta Distillers). I'm trying to come up with an approximation of the original Michter's Original Sour Mash. IMO, the original had notes of straight rye, bourbon, and Tennessee whiskey. "On verra".

I mixed this up 2 months ago. It was a 60/40 mix. I did not enjoy this mix at first. I tasted it every week for month and thought I wasted some good juice. I was out of state working for a month and just had a pour when I got home and it is great.

It took some time but I will mix more when it is gone.

Since I wasn't enjoying the 06 EWSB as much as I recall enjoying the 04 I decided to do this today:
