Re: What beer are you drinking Summer 2014

Picked up some Shiner White Wing today for a change. Good summer brew in the hot, hot heat.

Warm and humid outside but cool and dry inside so I thought an Arcadia Imperial Stout would work and it does.
No bottling date on the label but it does taste fresh.
It weighs in at 9% ABV and 90 IBU and it is as black as it can get.
Nice tan head and a nicely complex flavor.
It is not barrel aged but I do pick up some woody char type overtones along with sorghum and chocolate.
I am definitely going to put a couple of bottles in the basement for aging so I will have to go get another 4-pak fer sher.

Enjoying my last Half Acre Daisy Cutter, while listening to Braves out back and doing paperwork in prep for some meetings this week. The last of the several I brought back from the SB Cannonball Run last December, and still delicious.

Still my favorite of the regular production IPAs from the Chicagoland breweries Joe...some malty sweetness and the citrus is less grapefruity more orange-lemon-even a little pineapple...which I like, others may not.

The Daisy Cutter is on par with Smells like a Safety Meeting and is an excellent example in the category to that I'll agree.

    Founders Centennial in cans!
I picked up another 12 pak can at $14.99, 6-pak bottles go for $10.59.
    Mama didn't raise no fool.
Also on the look out for Founders Double Trouble, released in July but still haven't seen it.

Today was the first of 10 days at Disneyworld with my wife and three kids. Disneyworld has just about everything a person could ask for except good bourbon and good craft beer. I packed these bottles and I'm very happy that none of them broke during the trip - thank you TSA. It will be nice to take the edge off after a long day in the parks. No place assaults all five senses like Disneyworld.

Stone Brewing Co. w00t stout 2.0. I like this better than the original (last year's version 1.0). Had a glass at the local Stone Company Store. The addition of chocolate, and tinkering with the wheat and rye in the recipe, has resulted in a creamier, richer bourbon-barreled stout. At a whopping 13.5% abv (the highest Stone has gone so far), it is definitely a beer to sip slowly at the end of the day. Ended up buying a few bottles for aging. Might have to go back for more. Very limited distribution on this one; Southern California and Kentucky are the only official points of distribution.

And another positive is that Stone dropped the gimicky multiple label versions this year. No more limited edition variant art to collect/chase after this time.
