    Fireside Colorado Bourbon

I found this company Mile High Spirits from Denver CO who makes a Bourbon called Fireside.

The bottle I have has no age, and does not say straight.
The website page for Fireside bourbon claims it is a 4year aged straight bourbon and shows a similar label with the additional age and 'straight' text.

The bottle is just 80 proof, not impressive.
Priced at $23 there are many better values and pours at and below this price out there. But it is a local product and the "craft" distillate usually seems to be ridiculously expensive, so it was nice that this was at least priced in sanity.
I'm thinking possibly I have a bottle made before they had straight bourbon says it doesn't say it on the label.

Anyone tried this Mile High Spirits Fireside Bourbon?

I have a small pour in front of me.
The color is light and blond and it kind of smells like scotch.
The taste isn't bad, it's a warm bourbon profile, cinnamon, little bit of toffee, vanilla, there's almost a wisp of peat, black pepper.

Decent first impressions. I'll have to sit with it and develop some more impressions.

When I see something new, the back label usually has the most important information. There are so many new brands nowadays. Some are what they appear to be; product made by a small company. A lot are brands created to sell someone else's bulk whiskey at a big mark up. Also known as Potemkins.

    it says:

Produced and bottled by Mile High Spirits L. L. C. Denver Colorado. www.drinkmilehighspirits.com

    and on the other side:

Come visit us at 2920 Larimer Street. When you are done enjoying this bottle, then bring it in for a free drink.

    Neat.

Maybe I'll be doing some on location reporting. I think I know where Larimer is.

It's not a bad pour. It tastes like a 4 year old high rye vanilla bourbon. very minor butterscotch note.
Decent flavor for an 80 proofer. When I go in I'll probably ask them to consider a higher bottle proof.

"Produced" is a tricky word. It likely means they cut the sourced whiskey themselves with a little Rocky Mountain snow melt (read: Denver city water), maybe even bringing it down a mere 2 proof degrees, much like Tincup. But it most definitely was not distilled by them, and 99.99% likely it wasn't even distilled in this state.

But if you enjoy it, great. That is the most important. Whether the taste is sullied or not by the false advertising depends on your own personal aversion to BS marketing.
Whiskey is man's attempt at Heaven.
