    Request for Info/ Need Help

    Need Help

I know this is probably not proper but I don't know where to start. I am in search of information and don't know where to get it. Maybe you can help. My Mother has found some old Bourbon bottles still sealed with the following information.

    OLD PRENTICE DISTILLERY
    LAWRENCEBURG, KENTUCKY
    101 PROOF EAGLE RARE
    KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY
1 BARRELL OUT OF 37 WOULD QUALIFY
THIS IS OVER 10 YEARS OLD

Can you tell me if this Distillery is still in business, is the above a collectable or any info about the existence of this company. Please Help

Re: Request for Info/ Need Help

Eagle Rare is a bourbon brand introduced by the Jos. A. Seagram Company in the early 1970s. Old Prentice is a name that goes back to about 1910 when a distillery by that name was built on or near the site of present Seagram's Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg. That distillery is still in operation and may be the source of this whiskey, but the plant no longer uses the Old Prentice name. I can't help you much in determining its value as a collectable. In general, there isn't much of a market for collectable bourbons. The Eagle Rare brand is still made, but now it is made at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY (formerly Ancient Age), and is distributed by the Sazerac Company. I hope this helps.
