Price of bourbon and whisk ar going up in Michigan

I just found this out two or three weeks ago from one of my father's friends.The prices of bourbon and whiskey are going up because of Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm is doing this for some dumb reason.

Are you refering to the removal of the price cap on liquor??

In November, Governor Jennifer Granholm (D) signed HB4458 into law, which allows retailers to set their own price for distilled spirits—at or above state-set prices. Bars and restaurants that serve liquor already are allowed to mark up the price of alcoholic drinks they serve. Beer and wine aren’t affected by the legislation.

Sounds like you get to vote with your dollars where to shop and what to buy. Look for specials.

We just went thru the same thing in WA State - Illegitimate Gov Gregiore raised the taxes on tabacco, and on alcohol at a rate of $1.35 per liter - so a 750ml bottle of whiskey went up $1.00.

I didn't see a liqour tax increase in MI. One was defeated last year. Only thing I saw was that story on price cap removal.

BUT - I can surely relate to your plight. Ohio is losing jobs so fast we are in severe budget crises. The answer? Raise consumer taxes across the board!! Pretty much everything cost more here this year....
