    Ben Franklin Rye

I just picked up and old embossed whiskey Bottle (empty, darn it) that has on it
"Ben Franklin Rye, Delany & Murphy, Chicago. I can find nothing about it on the internet or elseware. I though someone may be able to shed some light on this piece of Whiskey History.

    thanks,

    mark

P S It is an amber tint cork bottle that apears from its construction to be from the 1880's through the turn of the century.

Your post brought a tear to my eye, an empty bottle of Rye.

You're a brave soul, I could never work up the cahonies to buy an empty bottle.

Like most pre-prohibition whiskeys, it was a distributor brand. I found this on pre-pro.com.

    WOW!

Thank you VERY MUCH for finding that for me!!

    You guys are good!!

And yes it is hard to buy empty bottles but I like to collect the embossed "Bar Bottles". These were usually shipped with the keg to the bar to fill for pouring the glasses.

And it brings a tear to my eye when I finish off one of my good one's (Filled bottles of course)............... I am always worried I won't find a replacement!
