Centennial 10 year old Rye Whisky

Picked this up in Toronto today. It has a good rounded taste, good, sweetish butterscotch flavours. Most of the taste seems to come from the wood, not in the new bourbon barrel way but in the reused bourbon barrel or new barrel way. A good product and, like the Century Reserve 13 year old, worth the money, but I can't really compare this (I mean in intensity of palate) to a Scots pot still or American straight whiskey palate. By the way, the leaflet on the label makes no reference to "chilled barrels". I could have sworn I saw that in the leaflet attached to the same brand as sold in the Manitoba liquor stores. Either the leaflets are different in the different markets (but the product presumably the same) or the Manitoba leaflet pertained to a different Canadian whisky.

I tried this, expecting a much smoother whisky owing to the use of wheat instead of corn in the blend. I found this one indistinguishable from the tons of other brands in the LCBO (Segrams VO, Wizers, Canadian Club, etc).

Not my favorite Canadian Whisky. Nose is decent with a unique bbq odor to it. On the mouth it shows immediate splashes of rye and medium caramel, but from middle palate to the finiah it fades to a dry, tasteless disapointment.
