Ken, As you shore up your supplies of Buffalo Trace, are we going to find some of the "lesser" brands disappearing? In particular the AAA that we pick up everytime we are in KY?

Ken said on a different thread that AAA was more or less a goner. I don't know if he said completely, but most states won't get it anymore.

Over the summer AAA was very scarce on the shelves in Louisville, however when I was there over the holidays, it was back in full force.

Please confirm that AAA 10 YO is NOT going away? If it is I will need to place a very large Binnys order.

I almost hate to answer this question since the information I have is not positive. Some of our older brands are running a bit short on inventory as we divert more into newer brands. AAA 10 year is one such example. You can currently find AAA in Kentucky and Virginia. Some other states may still have some on the shelves, but once it is gone, it will be a long time before they get any more (a few years). You should be able to find a supply at Binnys (www.binnys.com) however.

Would you be willing to tell us what else may be getting low on inventory? Given the age of the AAA 10 yr., I'm getting a little worried that I may not be able to find OC 12 in the future, and it's one I definetely like to have around. Should I stock up on it, or anything else?

After visiting over 50% of the stores in my metro area over the course of the last 6-8 weeks, I found only 1 that had any AAA-10yo still on the shelf. I did spot some AAA 10-Star (6yo) in several stores but left them where they sat. The remaining stores that I did not pay a visit are in parts of town that likely never even carried AAA-10yo anyway. If you like AAA-10yo or just want to stock up some for future trading fodder, best to take action soon. The 1 store I mentioned had 4 AAA-10yo in 1 liter bottles last week. I bought 1, leaving 3 more that I plan to buy tomorrow.

I bought a bottle of Buffalo Trace yesterday. 750ml $19.99 I didn't think that was too bad. I was a little disappointed in the flavor, it wasn't quite what I expected because I had read so much about it on here. I may have to revisit this one tonight.

We have a lot of BT at $18/bottle here in New Orleans. I tasted some yesterday from the "brown liquor cabinet" at the store where I work. It's definitely a nice bourbon for the price. It's not challenging in terms of being a complex drink. But it's certainly worth having on the shelf, at least for my tastes. I may get this one to have around for times when we have company who would like to drink bourbon, but won't necessarily appreciate the qualities of some of my more expensive bottles.
