    Bluegrass Brewing

This article is (in part) about McLain and Kyne Distillery, Bardstown, KY. I answer a lot of questions about the location of this distillery, which posts (on their web page) a picture of the distillery, with logo, and the words Bardstown, Ky...

Don't go looking for a distillery building named McLain and Kyne in Bardstown. You won't find it.

Click here to read about a new stout aged in used bourbon barrels.

    Re: Bluegrass Brewing

As I'm sure you and everyone else around here already knows, aging beer in used bourbon barrels is not uncommon in the craft brewing industry. In fact, it's pretty much "the" thing to be doing these days and just about every brewery or brewpub is doing it these days. However, this is the first time I've seen the brewery and distillery co-brand the product and share in the profits. That's an interesting concept to stand out from the rest of the crowd. Normally the brewery just buys the barrels. And quite frankly, I don't think they really care where the barrels come from. I know a local brewer who just put his barleywine in Buffalo Trace casks. When I complimented him on choice of cask, he told me that he got them only because they were the cheapest and easiest to get.

    Thanks for posting the article.

    Cheers - Paul
