Hey Dane,

Did you ever open that thing? I'm dying to know what the bourbon tastes like, but I don't want to open one myself. I have not heard great things about MCormick bourbon, but I don't believe I have ever tasted it for myself. And, since this bottling states that it was distilled in KY, is it really McCormick bourbon at all?

I'm thinking of bringing it to the sampler next year for the Gazebo so we can all see if it's any good. Just not going to pack it into a cooler and put it in the back of the truck....

Since this bourbon was neither distilled in MO or IL, any idea who made it? Did McCormick ever have a facility in KY? I'm wondering if this is the same stuff at all, or maybe something a little better.

There are some historical links between what is now McCormick and a Bardstown distillery called Shawhan, among other names, but George Henry Shawhan was involved with both, albeit 100 years ago. My guess would be if the McCormick you have seen says it was made in Kentucky it probably is bulk whiskey from one of the usual purveyors.
